While struggling with this, I read through the DejaNews article from Brian L. Sweeney, which describes solutions for the console redirection, plus another article from Fritz Golman which contained the solution to the logging problem.

Brian L. Sweeney also noted that PerlIS generated default headers, and David Miratsky supplied the link for turning these off.

Ian Cummings provided continued assistance and suggestions.

Neil Rashbrook offered clarifications on registry settings, reasons for %s, the console mystery, and cgi-bin2.

Eric Smith also offered advice on cgi-bin2.

Ron Shinall pointed out that the metabase needed updating for each instance of W3SVC.

stephane.plattner@dms.ch posted some useful stuff on SSI.

ktca@telecom.co.nz posted notes on the "Cannot detect OS type" issue.

Chris Beck posted the list of URLs for killing hung processes.

"jdn" commented that SP3 overwrites some of IE4, and offered advice on how to experiment with installing it anyway, and gave the recovery receipe.

Todd Yolish posted the differences between IIS4 and PWS.

Jonathan Dodds pointed out I was confusing two separate SSI mechanisms as one, and gave instructions for configuring each separately.

David Kalnins had problems with two %s parameters.

Doug Thompson, Barrie Walker, Martin Laplante, David Rayner all noted that %s parameters must be in lower-case. Serves me right for taking so long to update this FAQ. :-)

Kevin Williams suggested workarounds for locking.

Mats Olsson suggested the simpler workaround for fixing IE4 after SP3 toasts it.

O. T. Suarez passed on a link which explained the reason for two %s parameters.

Christopher R. Jones managed to get Perl running on PWS.

Derek Rayburn passed on advice from Yoram Last, developer of WebRSH, on starting background processes from within Perl.
